COVID's delta virus has arrived in the Eurobodalla, with a case detected in Batemans Bay.
It was not included in the official figures announced yesterday by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian as the positive test result came through after 8pm Sunday, but it will be included in today's figures.
Bega MP Andrew Constance took to social media to announce the case, and urged everyone in the region to take all possible precautions to keep themselves safe.
"There is no doubt this is spreading to our region, which is bad news for us all, so could we please just ensure extra vigilance," he said.
"It's vitally important that we all look for the signs, and any sign of a cold or a fever please go get tested," Mr Constance said.
"At the same time please everybody get vaccinated.
"We are in lockdown for a reason so please, whatever you do, minimise your travel, please be vigilant, and get tested, get vaccinated, and wait for the public health announcements which are going to follow later today," he said.
Mr Constance said the Batemans Bay case was one of several in the Southern NSW Local Health District.
"We're now obviously going to see the Health Department and Public Health Units do the necessary contract tracing with those who've been infected," he said.
