The peak body working for community services and organisations in Southern NSW says the Federal Government's cuts to the dole, or job-seeker as it's now called, have plunged many households on the Far South Coast back into poverty and crisis.
CEO of community industry group Nicky Sloan says the unemployment rate of 6.8 per cent on the Far South Coast is above the national average and doesn't paint a full picture of the underemployment and the many who have dropped out of the system all together.
She says the Morrison Government has delivered a "cruel new year's blow" to vulnerable Far South Coast residents relying on the dole, which is now about $700 a fortnight.
