NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant says a teenager from Victoria, holidaying in Merimbula has tested positive to COVID 19.
She says the family from Victoria were not from a known hotspot and had tests before they left Victoria, which returned negative results. However the family was then contacted to say there had been an error in the testing and the teenager was positive.
The family are in quarantine at Merimbula. They visited the Tathra Hotel before being made aware of the COVID postive result and now 80 people who were at the Tathra Hotel at the time they were there are being contacted.
Dr Chant says because of the hotel having a COVID safety plan the risk to patrons at the time has been assessed as low.
