Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash in Bega involving a motorbike and an SUV.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Upper and Gipps Streets, Bega, around 12:15pm on Monday (October 30), where a 21-year-old man on a KTM dirt bike and an 85-year-old couple in a Jeep Cherokee collided.
The rider was ejected from the bike before he was stretchered into an ambulance and taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Bega’s South East Regional Hospital.
A NSW Police spokesperson described the 21-year-old man’s injuries as “non life threatening” however a NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed the man did sustain lower back and pelvis injuries. He was also flown to St George Hospital in Sydney.
The 85-year-old female passenger was taken to Bega’s South East Rehional Hospital with minor injuries while the 85-year-old male driver of the Jeep was unharmed.
“We just heard revving noises then a loud thud,” a Bega local who was nearby at the time told East Coast Radio.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
South Coast Police have checked CCTV at nearby businesses as inquiries continue.
