There were two fatalities on our roads in the South East of NSW over the weekend.
A man died, after a fatal crash in Cooma late on Saturday night.
Emergency services were called to Vulcan Street around 11:45pm after a car left the road and hit a tree.
A man in his 20’s was assessed by paramedics but died at the scene while the driver reportedly fled the scene. A 23-year-old man was later arrested after presenting to Canberra Hospital with injuries.
He remains in a stable condition under police guard. A crime scene was established, which has been forensically examined by specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.
The incident came a day after a 67 year-old woman was killed in car and truck crash at Benandarah, north of Batemans Bay.
The Princes Highway was closed in both directions near Picnic Road, north of Batemans Bay, for around three hours.
The 41-year-old driver of the truck was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding both incidents while two reports will be prepared for the Coroner.
