A surfer has sprung into action on a south coast beach, after seeing a kangaroo in distress in the surf.
About Regional reports surfer Brendan Riddick was walking along the beach at Gannet Beach in Bawley Point, between Batemans Bay and Ulladulla when he dragged a distressed kangaroo from rough surf on Monday (January 15).
“It looked like it was swimming ok in the calm rock pool area,” Riddick told About Regional.

“But then it started drifting out into the current and was getting taken out to the point.”
“I thought geez, if I don’t go in there, that poor thing is going to drown.”
