The community of Pambula is grieving the loss of one of their own, after a three year old boy died after being struck by a ride-on lawn mower in South Pambula over the weekend.
South Coast Police officers responded to Pambula District Hospital, after the child was bought in with severe injuries, around 12:30pm on Saturday (March 11).
Despite the best efforts of those working at Pambula Hopsital, the three year old boy was declared deceased.
Crime scenes have been established at the hospital and at South Pambula as police inquiries continue however one media outlet suggests that police are not expected to lay any charges but are required to investigate such deaths to provide a report to the coroner.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Jessica Porter to help the family of the three year old particularly with the cost of the funeral. The page has already raised around $4,000 towards it’s goal of $20,000.
“As you can understand this is a very difficult time the family and they were not prepared for the sudden passing of their child or the high cost of a funeral,” Ms Porter stated.
“We are hoping to raise enough money to allow the family including the boy’s two older sisters (5 & 9) to give him a beautiful send off, honouring his memory.
“Some funds will also be needed to provide grief couselling for the family.
“He loved the colour blue and painting his nails with his big sisters, so we ask all attending the memorial when it is announced, to wear something blue and paint your nails pink.”
