It's so heartwarming to see how much help and support there is pouring into the Bega Valley for the families affected by the devastation at Tathra.
Here's the latest on the Tathra bushire:
The RFS have contained the fire and declared another section of Tathra safe yesterday afternoon – more than half of the township has been reopened now (see the list below)
Water and sewerage services are running, and Essential Energy is working to have power fully restored
The evac centre at the showgrounds has been closed and the recovery centre will open at the Bega Civic centre from 10-5 today Please remember to register for assistance first at https://register.redcross.org.au/
The Insurance Council of Australia has also opened a hub at the civic centre to assist people with bushfire-related claims or you can call 1800 734 621
The SES has tarpaulin ready for any Tathra residents whose homes are exposed to the rain due to fire damage (call Rod 0408 025 600)
Local Land Services are continuing to go into Tathra to retreive lost pets and look after the ones left at homes. They’re encouraging all Tathra pet owners to speak with them at their offices above Sapphire Marketplace, and reminding people not to buy pet food and supplies because they have everything they need
