The Bega Valley Business Forum (contracted) Coordinator will over the 10 month project bring together 7 active Chambers of Commerce representing 560 members and help grow and strengthen this important network. This new shared resource will play an important role in identifying priority needs, attracting shared resources and funding and actioning some of the wishes of the business community. Desired outcomes of the project will also include capacity building and strategic planning for the Business Forum and it's 7 Chambers for a more resilient future.

About the Bega Valley Shire Business Forum

The Bega Valley Shire Business Forum (BVSBF) was formed to represent a unified voice for Chambers of Commerce throughout the Bega Valley and has achieved much since its inception in 2000. The Business Forum has seven Chamber members representing Eden, Pambula, Merimbula, Tathra, Bega, Bermagui, and Cobargo (with a total of over 500 member businesses).

The Forum has been successfully in existence for 21 years and is credited as being the first and most successful example of a combined shire-wide business organisation in NSW. Chambers of Commerce play a very important role in our region, and all levels of government acknowledge the role that chambers play and look to them for input for any matters regarding business development. In recent year's of devastating bush fires and pandemic restrictions, business support and networking has been more relevant than ever.

The 6 participating Chambers are Pambula, Tathra, Bega, Cobargo, Merimbula and Eden

The activities undertaken by the coordinator and the committee will include:
1. Seek further funding to help fulfill the individual Chambers and Forums objectives
2. Work with individual Chamber's to assist them in growing their memberships
3. Assist chambers in setting up or maintaining their own databases
4. Overhaul of the BVSBF existing Constitution and organisation structure
5. Support local chambers with their social media strategies
6. Development of website for the Bega Valley Shire Business Forum to promote the area to investors and businesses
7. Provide administrative support to individual Chambers
8. Develop a capacity building program to meet needs of Bega Valley businesses

Contract Details
• Contract period from September 2021 and be completed by June 2022
• Work could be carried out remotely, from home or at various Chamber offices or locations within the shire
• Consideration may be given to the work being carried out as a shared role
• Contractor must have own ABN and appropriate Insurance
• Hourly rate based on experience
• The role is to be full time with flexibility of hours both in and outside normal business
hours
• Travel within the BVS would be required.
• All costs to be covered by the contractor and form part of their hourly rate.
(i.e. No extra expenses paid)

Reporting
The contractor would report to the BVSBF Committee and be expected to provide monthly written reports on progress, as well as presenting to the monthly committee meeting.

Expressions of Interest
Candidates who believe they have appropriate skills and experience are invited to submit an EOI for the position. The EOI should include their experience in each of the aforementioned areas. It should also include their fee proposal to manage the project of the contract period, including their hourly rate and availability.

Desired Skills and Experience
• A resident of the Bega Valley Shire
• Experience in Business or Economic Development
• A Good understanding of the roles that Chambers of Commerce play in the business
community
• Good networking skills and contacts with in the BVS Business Community
• Strong Experience in Grant Writing and Funding management
• Strong Financial Skills
• Good Reporting and Presentation Skills
• Experience in project management of similar projects
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer and IT skills to manage software and communication, especially
Microsoft and Google.
