A volunteer crew on board Marine Rescue NSW vessel, Batemans Bay 30, has been tasked to rescue four people after their vessel suffered mechanical failure 15 nautical miles (28kms) off Batemans Bay this morning (Friday February 2).

Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Glenn Sullivan said Batemans Bay 30 departed for the mission at 9am.

“All on board the disabled vessel are safe but conditions offshore are forecast to deteriorate as the day develops,” Inspector Sullivan said.

“A hazardous surf warning in place, the swell is currently 2.5 metres and building,” he said.

“We have a very experienced crew on board our rescue vessel but this mission will take many hours because of the conditions and distance involved.”

Marine Rescue NSW is a volunteer based not-for-profit professional organisation dedicated to keeping boaters safe on the water and supporting local communities.
