To reduce fashion waste, Eurobodalla Council’s sustainability team are teaming up with Vinnies to put on a ‘clothing swap’ in Moruya.

South Coast locals are being encouraged to bring up to five items of clothing in good condition to swap at Saturday’s Riverside Markets between 8am and 12:30pm.

On average people in the South East buy 15kgs of clothing each year then send 10kgs to landfill.

A spokesperson from Eurobodalla Council’s sustainability team said swapping clothes is a sustainable, fun way to get your fashion fix.

“Bring up to five items to swap – you can take home as many as you brought along,” the council spokesperson said.

“Clothes will be hung up on racks for easy viewing and trying and the swap is for everyone – all ages, genders and body types.”

“Bring nice stuff – clothing you’d gift to a good mate, nothing worn-out, pongy, pilled or damaged. Please, no underwear, swimwear, old pyjamas or overworked gym gear.”
