Election wrap for Bega & Monaro

Labor’s Dr. Michael Holland has successfully retained the seat of Bega.

With just over 43 per cent of the vote counted Dr. Holland is ahead of Liberal Candidate Russell Fitzpatrick on preferences by 60.9 per cent to 39.1 per cent.

Dr. Holland said it’s business as usual until the official declaration.

“Work does go on and my electoral office will still be open to deal with constituents who have any problems,

“But I expect there’ll be a fair amount of work going in Sydney as we settle into forming a new government,” Dr. Holland said.

Vote counting will resume this morning.

NSW Electoral Commission

And Labor’s Steve Whan has claimed victory in the neighbouring seat of Monaro.

After preferences, Mr. Whan is ahead of the Nationals Candidate Nichole Overall 53.9 to 46.1.

That’s a swing of 15.5 per cent to the ALP.
