More power pain

Wednesday, 13 June 2012 13:15

electricity As announced in our midday news most power bills in NSW will rise by an average 18% instead of the 16% recommended by the pricing tribunal. This will inflict more pain on low income earners and the dis-advantaged in our community. Organisations on the South Coast including St.Vincent De Paul and the Salvos tell us that people are already doing it tough and there are some in our community who aren’t putting heaters on during these cold frosty nights because they quite simply can’t afford to pay the power bill. I have discussed this on numerous occasions with our politicians however it seems to me that these highly paid people just don’t get it. We will continue to campaign for a more even playing field but i fear it will fall on deaf ears. Can you afford the price rise??
