Drive to the conditions this long weekend

Wednesday, 06 June 2012 11:00

Roads The long weekend is approaching which is the official start of the ski season. With the adverse weather over the past 48 hours there are reports of good snow falls particularly around Perisher. With the snow falls yesterday there are reports of icy roads in the region and some minor flooding in the Snowy River Shire. Of course the police will be out in force this weekend and as they told me on the morning show today they will be targeting the Kings and Snowy Mountains Highway and of course double demerit points apply all weekend. Please drive carefully and to the conditions and for the latest weather and road information you can log in to 2ec.com.au

Hot on the news that soccer legend Sir Alex Fergusson is calling time on his stellar career, David Beckham has announced he will end it as well. Family doing it tough

Family doing it tough

We have learnt of a family doing it tough as many are and there is an appeal to try and help. Simon and Nicole Cousins relocated from the Gold Coast to Merimbula recently to raise their four children in a great part of the world. Shortly after their arrival their youngest son Reaf then aged 17 months pulled a cup of boiling water over himself and suffered 3rd degree burns to his chest and arms which required many months of treatment at Westmead Children’s Hospital. On their last trip home the car broke down leaving them without wheels. Then... Read more

A mixed budget

A mixed budget

Last night’s budget is mixed in content and has been mixed in response. The Australian Local Government Association has welcomed the budget saying Wayne Swans plan to return the budget to surplus over the next few years will mean there will be an opportunity for more investment in local government areas. The announcement re $40 million to help re-build flood ravaged communities and the $12.9 million to help councils with the NBN roll out are all positive steps. The ALGA has also welcomed the $9.1 million over four years to crate a one stop shop for grants advertising and... Read more
