Aussies battling to cope
Today on the 2EC morning show i spoke to Major Peter Sutcliffe from the Salvation Army about disturbing new data highlighting the fact that Australia’s two speed economy doesn’t appear to be slowing down. The data from a recent survey suggests that 52% of people surveyed have gone without a meal and 29% cannot afford a meal once a day. 33% can’t afford heating and 37% can’t afford medication prescribed by their GP. Time to help
The Salvation Army Red Shield appeal is happening this weekend. I spoke to Peter Gott from the Batemans Bay Salvation Army about an hour ago and he was saying the pressure is on to try and help those in our community who are struggling. Increased cost of living pressures in our community including families living in motor cars and those who are couch surfing means that the Salvos are calling on the community to dig deep. In what has been described as an Australian first the brand new Baylink facility was officially opened in Batemans Bay this morning.
