Straightening Out Kings Highway

Despite a delay of five months, work on the Kings Highway just west of Batemans Bay is due to be completed next month.

But that's if the weather allows - wet conditions set the project back. It was meant to have been finished earlier this year.

The $3m project will straighten parts of the highway -especially in one black-spot area.

The 500m stretch at Rotary Drive has seen four car-crashes over the last five years – one of which was fatal.

Princes Highway Reopened Following Twin-Truck Crash

A twin-truck crash in the early hours of this morning closed the Princes Highway just north of Bega for more than four hours. Shortly after 3am, two medium truck – one a medium-sized flat tray and the other a Kenworth tipper towing an empty trailer – collided around 10km north of Bega. One of the vehicles rolled, spilling an amount of diesel fuel onto the road. No one was injured in the crash, but emergency crews took around four hours conducting a heavy salvage operation at the site, mopping up the spilled fuel. Dave Wright... Read more

Former Batemans Bay Top Cop Promoted

A former Shoalhaven Police officer has been elevated to one of the most senior positions in the New South Wales force. 52 year old Assistant Commissioner Jeff Loy has been appointed as the new commander of the state's Northern Region. Assistant Commissioner Loy joined the force in 1982, and has subsequently climbed the promotions ladder with appointments in Sydney and throughout regional areas.
