Environmental Restoration and Rehabilitation Projects Funded

Member for Bega Andrew Constance and the Minister for the Environment, Robyn Parker, today announced $293,758 for environmental restoration and rehabilitation projects in the Bega electorate.

Mr Constance said Eurobodalla Shire Council and Southern Rivers Catchment Management Authority have both been allocated grants from the NSW Government’s Environmental Trust.

The Eurobodalla Council will receive $98,758 to protect and restore two endangered ecological communities – Themeda grasslands on sea cliffs and coastal headlands and littoral rainforest.

Southern Rivers CMA will receive funding for two projects. One project which aims to help reverse degradation of the Bega River catchment has been awarded $100,000.

An additional $95,000 has been awarded to the CMA for a project to protect the high conservation values of the Clyde River.

Parrots Returned to Batemans Bay Animal Park

There's been a breakthrough in the case of six snakes and three parrots stolen from a Eurobodalla animal park. Two valuable Eclectic Parrots and a rare Corella/Galah-hybrid have been returned to the Birdland Animal Park in Batemans Bay, after being stolen some time over the weekend. Bega MP Slams Budget

Green Light for Fishing in Bega Valley Lake

Fishing is now open in Wallagoot Lake on the NSW South Coast after the Lake was declared to be free from the noxious marine weed Caulerpa taxifolia (Caulerpa).
